- Pre-6, you win this lane clearly because your Q root completely dismantles Locke's combo flow — if you land Dark Binding before he can stack Q or commit E, he has no way to safely execute his burst pattern and takes full Tormented Shadow damage while rooted; post-6, the matchup becomes more dangerous since his R can slow him into execution range and his W lets him sustain through your damage mid-combo, so you must respect his all-in potential and keep Black Shield ready.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to zone Locke with Tormented Shadow under your feet to discourage him from walking up to stack Q, then punish any aggressive step with Dark Binding — if he burns E to engage, he has no escape tool and you can root him, drop Tormented Shadow on top, and auto-attack freely while he is locked down with no repositioning option.
Wave Control
- Control the wave by using Tormented Shadow to clear efficiently and deny Locke the ability to shove you in, since a pushed wave forces him to farm under tower and limits his ability to safely stack Q at range — if the wave is neutral or slightly in your favor, you can walk up to threaten Dark Binding and keep him from freely poking, which is where his lane damage entirely comes from.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use Black Shield reactively on yourself when Locke uses R — save it for when he is actively committing his E-W all-in, because the shield blocking his W's true damage and his passive on-hit magic damage mid-combo is far more valuable than blocking the R slow alone; burning it early on the R means you have no protection during the actual kill attempt that follows immediately after.
