Who Wins
- You win most pre-6 trades once you get your passive proc, as Maokai lacks the sustained damage to match your aura and Q spam.
- Post-6 you heavily favor the 1v1 since R isolates him from his team utility and you steal his tankiness while he can't effectively use his CC in the Death Realm.
How to Trade
- Look to land E pull into Q for passive stacks, then chase with W shield active to absorb his Q knockback and saplings while your aura burns him down.
- Avoid extended trades without your passive up since his sustain from passive and saplings can outlast your cooldowns.
Wave Control
- Push waves aggressively with Q to deny his passive healing from minions and force him to use mana on waveclear rather than poke.
