Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you slightly favor extended trades once you stack your passive, but Locke's Q slow and E mobility make it hard to stick to them before level 3 when you have E to pull them back in — respect their ability to disengage early and don't overcommit without passive stacks ready.
  • Post-6, your R is a hard win condition: you steal their stats, remove their E mobility entirely, and their W healing inside the Death Realm is significantly reduced in value since they can't reposition or escape your passive aura, making this a strong stat-check in your favor.

How to Trade

  • The optimal trade pattern is to bait out their E blink first, then immediately use your E to pull them into melee range and stack your passive — once they've used E, they have no escape tool and you can run them down with Q for the single-target bonus damage while your passive aura ticks.
  • Never initiate a trade when their E is available, as they can blink away mid-combo and reset the engagement on their terms.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave consistently to deny Locke the space to poke you with Q from range, as a frozen wave near their tower forces them to stand in your passive aura range to last-hit, which is where you win trades.
  • Avoid letting the wave bounce back to mid-lane where they have room to Q-poke safely and disengage with E before you can respond.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use your R reactively when Locke has already activated their W, because their W heal at the end of the duration can partially offset the stat disadvantage inside the Death Realm — wait for their W to expire or force them to use it before committing your R.
  • Ulting them while their W is active wastes your primary win condition and gives them a fighting chance they wouldn't otherwise have.
