Who Wins
- Pre-6, Azir wins every extended trade due to his range advantage and ability to poke you down with soldiers before you can close the gap — your only real window is if you land E on him when he overextends to last-hit, but he can simply disengage with his W dash.
- Post-6, you win the R duel decisively because you steal his stats, his soldiers do not follow him into the Death Realm, and your passive aura combined with stolen AP makes you nearly unkillable in the 1v1.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to absorb his poke into your W shield passively, then look for an E when he repositions his soldiers forward — once you land E, immediately proc your passive with Q and auto-attacks before he can escape, forcing him to either burn his W dash or take a full trade he cannot win at close range.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave hard early to deny Azir the safe farming range he needs, forcing him to either take tower damage or walk up into your threat zone — however, do not overextend past the wave chasing him, as his soldiers can punish you in the open.
- After R is available, consider freezing near your tower to bait him into a position where you can R him without him having an easy escape path.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk into his soldier formation trying to force a trade without your E ready — his soldiers deal significant damage and he can kite you indefinitely if you miss E, burning your W shield for nothing.
- Wasting your W heal on poke damage rather than saving it for a committed all-in is a critical mistake that removes your sustain when you actually need it.
