LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose almost every extended trade against Jayce in hammer form due to his E-Q combo dealing massive burst damage, and you cannot match his poke in cannon form either — you are fundamentally outranged and outburst until you hit 6.
- Post-6, your R gives you a meaningful teamfight and skirmish tool, but in a pure 1v1 Jayce can still disengage with his E in hammer form or kite you in cannon form, so you never cleanly win the lane 1v1.
How to Trade
- Your best pattern is to absorb poke with W passive healing, wait for Jayce to commit to a hammer form all-in or walk up carelessly in cannon form, then land Q to close the gap and stack W damage on him while he cannot escape — short trades heavily favor Jayce, so you must force extended fights once you've closed distance.
- Never trade when he has his E up in hammer form; bait it out first.
Wave Control
- Push the wave into his tower whenever possible to deny him the safe cannon-form poke range he wants — a wave crashing under tower forces him into melee range to last-hit, which is where you can punish him.
- Avoid letting the wave sit in the middle of the lane, as that is the ideal position for Jayce to freely poke you with cannon Q.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade when Jayce has full combo available and the wave is in the middle of the lane — you will take a full E-Q cannon poke into hammer E-Q burst and have no way to respond effectively.
- Patience is mandatory; forcing fights on his terms is the primary reason Maokai players lose this matchup.
