Who Wins
- Pre-6 you lose due to Zilean's superior poke with Q and zone control, plus Aphelios outranges your ADC significantly.
- Post-6 the matchup becomes more even as your R can counter their all-in attempts, but Zilean's R still provides better teamfight utility.
Synergy & Trading
- Use E on yourself for aggressive Q poke when enemies are farming, then immediately W the enemy ADC to prevent retaliation.
- Save your polymorph for when Aphelios commits with gap-closing weapons like Severum or when he's setting up Infernum combos.
Wave Control/Roaming
- Roam when your wave is pushed and Aphelios is farming under tower with awkward weapons.
- Best timings are after successful recalls when you have vision control and your mid-jungle can follow up on your W engage.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't waste W on Zilean unless it's for a guaranteed kill - his E can cleanse the slow and he'll just speed away.
- Never use R reactively against their poke; save it for when they commit to all-ins or when your ADC is genuinely in kill range.
