Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you have a meaningful range advantage with Q to poke and stack Ritual Nails before committing, but Fizz's E makes him slippery enough to dodge your E follow-up if you mistime it — level 3 is your first real window to threaten a kill since you have Q stacks, E blink, and W available for a full combo.
  • Post-6, your R's 99% slow and execution threshold give you a decisive edge if you can land it before Fizz uses his E, but Fizz's R can interrupt your all-in and burst you before your W healing kicks in, so the post-6 window is volatile rather than clean.

How to Trade

  • The correct trading pattern is to stack Q marks at range (ideally 2–3 stacks), then use E to blink in and immediately consume stacks with your empowered attack before activating W — W's true damage ticks fuel your healing on recast, so you want to absorb some damage during the trade rather than recasting it instantly.
  • Never initiate with E before you have at least 2 Q stacks on Fizz, because without the burst from consumed stacks your damage is too low to justify the gap-close against his E escape.

Wave Control

  • You want to maintain a slight freeze or slow push to deny Fizz roam windows, since his R and mobility make him a dangerous roamer and your wave clear without committing E is mediocre.
  • Use Q to poke him off CS rather than hard shoving, because pushing into his tower removes your all-in angle and lets him farm safely under turret while waiting for jungle assistance.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not activate W reactively when Fizz lands his R shark on you — the true damage W deals to yourself does not interact favorably with the shark's burst, and panicking into a W-recast too early wastes the healing bonus you'd gain from absorbing more damage.
  • Fizz's R knockup and slow will often force you into a position where your E follow-up misses entirely, so respect the R range and pre-position to sidestep it rather than relying on W to survive it.
