Who Wins
- Pre-6, you have a clear advantage at level 2 when W-E becomes available, as Aatrox needs level 3 to access the full Q rotation that makes them threatening — use this window to force a W-E all-in if you have two or more Q stacks on Aatrox, since they cannot sustain through the burst before their omnivamp passive is fully online.
- Post-6, Aatrox's R fundamentally changes the matchup by providing enough healing to survive your burst combo and enough AD to kill you in an extended fight, so you must either burst Aatrox below the R activation threshold quickly or disengage entirely once R is active.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to apply two to three Q stacks at range while Aatrox is committing to a Q animation, then immediately E in and activate W to cash in the stacks with the E dash and on-hit passive scaling — the burst window must be completed before Aatrox lands a sweet spot Q, as that single hit provides significant healing and can turn the trade.
- After the E-W combo, recast W early if Aatrox is backing off to bank the heal, then reset with E on a minion if available to maintain repositioning options.
Wave Control
- Play for a slow lane where you can poke with Q repeatedly before committing to an all-in, because Aatrox's wave clear with Q is strong and a fast-pushed wave removes your safe poke range and forces you into melee range where Aatrox's passive empowered attacks and Q sweet spots are most dangerous.
- Use R proactively in skirmishes to zone Aatrox away from the wave or force them into a bad position, and collect sealed souls consistently to permanently raise your execution threshold, which becomes critical for finishing Aatrox through their omnivamp sustain.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not activate W and commit to a full all-in when Aatrox has R available and is above roughly 40% health, because Aatrox's R healing combined with omnivamp from E passive will sustain through your burst and you will be caught in melee range with W's true damage ticking on yourself and no escape tool.
- Avoid using E as a pure escape blink when Aatrox has a Q charged, since the dash path is predictable and Aatrox can time the sweet spot to hit you mid-dash, negating your escape and providing them a massive healing proc.
