Who Wins

Pre-6, Zyra's E-Q plant combo has enough range and damage to punish you if you walk up carelessly, but you win short trades at level 2 once you have Q and W — dash in, Q, auto, W back before her plants can fully respond.
At level 3 with E added, you can chain E into Q detonation for a meaningful chunk, but Zyra's plants will retaliate so don't overstay after the combo.
Post-6, you hard win the 1v1 — a clean Q-R(Q)-W-E sequence deletes her before her plants deal meaningful damage back, and your W return gives you an escape if her E roots you.

Your best trading pattern is to bait her E first by walking up as if to engage, then sidestepping or W-dashing through it, then immediately committing with Q into W for the detonation.
If her E is on cooldown, you can freely walk up for Q poke and W back without taking significant retaliation.
Never trade into her when her plants are already placed and active — the passive plant damage adds up and she wins sustained skirmishes.

Push the wave early with Q-W to shove Zyra under tower, denying her the ability to freely place seeds and set up her zone control.
A frozen wave near your tower is dangerous because Zyra's plants can zone you off CS without her needing to commit to a trade.
Prioritize shoving and roaming post-6 since Zyra has no mobility to follow, and your burst is more impactful on side lanes than in a prolonged mid standoff.

Do not walk into her pre-placed seed zones without a clear burst window — Zyra's strength is forcing you to fight on her terms with plants already active, and trading into that setup wastes your mobility advantage.
Avoid using W aggressively without confirming her E is on cooldown, because getting rooted mid-dash-return means you eat full plant damage with no escape.
