Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win this lane convincingly because Kassadin is one of the weakest early-game champions in the game — his Q has a long cooldown, his W is melee range, and he has no reliable way to trade back against your Q-W burst or even your Q poke alone.
  • At level 3 you can look to all-in him if he's taken any poke damage, as your E root into Q-W combo will chunk him to near-death before he can respond.

How to Trade

  • Post-6, the window to kill him narrows rapidly as his R gives him slippery mobility and he begins stacking mana to sustain through your poke, but you still win short trades if you land E first to deny his escape — your burst combo Q-R(Q)-W-E can delete him before he R-flashes away if he's not at full HP.
  • The longer the game goes, the harder it becomes to one-shot him, so prioritize getting kills or a significant lead before he hits level 11.

Wave Control

  • Your optimal trading pattern is to open with E to tether him, then immediately W in and Q to detonate the sigil while the root locks him in place — this maximizes damage while preventing him from R-ing away mid-combo.
  • Avoid starting with W first because he can simply R out before your E lands, wasting your cooldowns and leaving you without your escape tool.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste your W return by using it aggressively when Kassadin has his R up post-6 — if you W in and he R-flashes away, you are left in melee range with no escape and he can re-engage on you with follow-up R casts.
  • Always respect that his R has a very short cooldown at later ranks and treat every all-in as a commitment that requires E to land first.
