Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win this matchup cleanly because your level 2 Q-W combo deals significant burst before Gwen has any sustain or defensive tools online, and she has no reliable way to punish your W return dash.
  • Post-6, the matchup becomes more dangerous because her W makes your entire combo potentially wasted if she activates it after your W lands, so you need to bait her W before committing your full R-enhanced combo.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to poke with W-R(W) from range, dealing damage and immediately returning to safety before she can retaliate with her E dash, gradually wearing her down without letting her passive healing offset your burst.
  • When she is low enough or has used her W, commit to a full Q-W-E-R sequence to delete her before she can stabilize with healing.

Wave Control

  • You want to shove the wave quickly with Q-W or Q-R(W) and roam, because Gwen has no reliable way to follow you and your roam threat forces her to either match your push and lose lane priority or stay and fall behind the map.
  • Consistently creating pressure on other lanes is more valuable than trying to kill Gwen repeatedly in a lane where her W can neutralize your all-in.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not W onto Gwen if she still has her W available, because she will immediately activate it to become untargetable, your W return window will expire while you wait, and you will be left in melee range of an E-empowered Gwen with no escape tool and her passive healing running.
  • Always probe her W by faking an engage or waiting for her to use it on a minion wave before committing your full combo.
