Who Wins
- Pre-6 you win this matchup clearly because your Q-W combo deals significant burst before Akali can react, and your W return means she cannot punish your dive.
- At level 2 you can already poke with Q into W detonation, and Akali has no reliable way to trade back or sustain through repeated short trades.
How to Trade
- Post-6 Akali becomes a genuine threat because her shroud denies your E root and her R-W lets her stick to you through your W return — if she survives your initial R-Q or R-W burst, she will likely kill you.
- You need to land your full combo decisively and confirm the kill before she reaches shroud, because a surviving Akali in shroud with R available is extremely dangerous.
Wave Control
- Your best trading pattern is W into her to proc Q mark, then immediately use R-W to deal the enhanced burst before she can enter shroud or retaliate.
- If she uses shroud preemptively, back off with W return and reset — never commit your R into a shroud because you will waste your cooldown and she will punish you coming out.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use E or R-E as your primary lockdown tool against Akali — she can use W to enter shroud during the 1.5-second tether delay, breaking your root and wasting your R.
- Rely on the W-based burst combo rather than the E chain setup, and avoid fighting her when she has both W and shroud available.
