Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you lose the direct scuttle fight against Briar if they land their E onto you in the river, as your ranged damage does not outduel their W healing and burst in a short-range skirmish; you should contest scuttle only if you can maintain distance and kite, or concede it and focus on securing marks elsewhere.
  • From level 6, you win a 1v1 by forcing the fight in open terrain—dragon pit, baron pit, or wide jungle paths—where you can continuously kite with Q dashes and auto-attacks while Briar's E is on cooldown, as your sustained ranged DPS will eventually outpace their healing if they cannot stick to you.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Briar will likely start at their bot-side buff and path toward scuttle aggressively at level 3, looking to fight you for river control early; expect them to invade your jungle when they have a health advantage or when you are low after a camp, as Briar's playstyle is heavily skirmish-oriented and they will look to snowball through early kills.

Invade or Not

  • You should generally avoid invading Briar's jungle in the early game, as their 1v1 strength in tight corridors heavily favors them; instead, focus on securing your marks efficiently and look to counter-gank or fight Briar in lane-adjacent open areas where your kiting is viable.
  • If you must invade, do so only after Briar has committed their E to a camp or a fight, as that is their primary gap-close and without it they cannot reliably stick to you.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Briar walk up to you in a narrow jungle path or river chokepoint without your Q available, as a single E landing from them followed by their W will likely kill you before you can create enough distance; always pre-position with escape routes and never fight them when your Q is on cooldown in a closed space.
