Who Wins
- Pre-6 you lose this matchup at every early level spike — Renekton's level 2 all-in with W stun into Q heal is one of the strongest early patterns in the game and you have no answer to it without jungle assistance.
- Post-6 your power depends entirely on which form you've collected: Rhaast gives you enough sustain to survive extended trades, but Shadow Assassin lets you burst him in a short window if you can avoid his W stun.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to use E through a wall or minion wave to reposition, force him to waste his E, then re-engage on your terms with W into Q — never fight him in a straight line where he can freely land his full combo.
- In Rhaast form, look for extended trades where your W healing can offset his Q sustain over multiple exchanges.
Wave Control
- Play defensively and let the wave push toward you early, farming safely under tower to avoid his level 2 and 3 all-ins while you stack your passive on minions and jungle camps.
- Once you hit your form transformation, you can start looking for short aggressive trades or roam opportunities, but do not force fights in the lane before that point.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your E to engage onto Renekton when he has fury stacked — his empowered W will stun you mid-dash animation and he will deal a massive chunk of your health before you can respond.
- Patience is critical: trading into a fury-stacked Renekton without a clear escape route is the primary reason Kayn players lose this lane.
