Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you lose the scuttle fight against Nocturne in most scenarios because his Q gives him a speed and damage advantage that outpaces your early burst, and his W spell shield can negate your Q damage at a critical moment.
  • At level 6, as Rhaast you can win extended fights by stacking W healing through his body, but as Shadow Assassin you need to burst him before his W shield resets or he will sustain through your combo and outduel you with his passive attack speed.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Nocturne almost always runs a full clear starting red or blue side depending on spawn, prioritizing a level 3 scuttle contest or a fast level 6 power spike gank.
  • He tends to path toward whichever lane has the most kill pressure, often bot or mid, and will look to snowball early kills into a dominant mid-game presence.

Invade or Not

  • You should generally avoid invading Nocturne pre-level 6 because his early dueling is stronger than yours in most states, and getting caught in his jungle without your team nearby is a losing fight.
  • If you have Rhaast form and a clear read on his location, you can contest his second buff around 3:30–4:00 on the opposite side of the map, but only if you have a health advantage and vision control.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not walk into Nocturne's W spell shield with your Q as your primary damage tool — this wastes your burst window and lets him trade back freely with his passive stacks and Q damage.
  • Timing your engage after his W is on cooldown (14 seconds at rank 1) is the difference between winning and losing the trade.
