Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Ambessa's level 3 Q-E-Q burst is your most dangerous window and you should respect it by keeping your E available to absorb her auto-attack damage during her combo — before level 3 the lane is relatively even but her mobility makes her difficult to punish without your E timing being precise.
  • Post-6, your R is a significant power spike that gives you both a damage steroid and a reliable AoE stun, making extended all-ins heavily favor you as long as you do not let her disengage freely after her burst.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to bait out her Q dashes by walking up aggressively, then activate your E as she commits to her empowered auto sequence — once her Q mobility is on cooldown and your E has negated her autos, you W into her and look to extend the trade with your passive stacks building.
  • The longer the fight goes with your E having already expired safely, the more your passive auto-attack damage and W burst outscale her short-trade burst pattern.

Wave Control

  • You want to push the wave consistently to force Ambessa to farm under tower, which limits her ability to freely dash in and out for poke trades — a pushed wave also sets up dive potential post-6 with your R stun, and denies her the safe spacing she needs to execute her Q combo.
  • Avoid letting her freeze the wave in the middle of the lane where she has room to dash in, trade, and dash back without tower threat.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not activate your E reactively the moment she walks toward you — Ambessa players will often fake an engage to bait your E, then wait for it to expire before committing their real Q combo.
  • Avoid using your W as a pure gap-closer without your E being ready, as she can simply Q away and your extended cooldowns leave you vulnerable to her next trade cycle.
