LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose most extended trades against Yorick because his W cage traps you inside melee range while his ghouls and E deal sustained damage you cannot escape; you can win short burst trades at level 3 if you stack your passive fully before engaging and immediately Q reset out, but this requires a perfectly stacked passive and Yorick not having W ready.
- Post-6, your R gives you waveclear and a knockback to interrupt ghoul pressure, but Yorick's R maiden combined with ghouls still out-sustains your damage in a prolonged fight, so you only win post-6 if you can burst him before maiden stacks ghouls.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to stack your passive to 5 on minions before engaging, then Q onto Yorick, auto-E-auto to proc your passive bonus resistances, and immediately Q reset onto a minion to exit before his W cage lands; never commit to a full trade inside his W because the cage duration is long enough for ghouls to deal significant damage even if you kill them with your passive.
Wave Control
- You want to shove the wave consistently using Q resets to deny Yorick the slow push he needs to build a massive wave for his R split push; a pushed wave also reduces the time you spend in his W cage range near your own tower, and it lets you roam or take plates while he is forced to farm under tower.
- Avoid letting the wave freeze near his tower, as that gives him a safe environment to stack ghouls and poke you without risk.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not engage on Yorick when his W is available and you do not have a full passive stack — entering his cage without passive resistances active means you take the full ghoul burst plus his E slow with no escape tool, which is the single most common way Irelia dies in this matchup.
