Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win this matchup at level 1-2 if you can stack your passive quickly on the wave and look for an extended trade, as Ekko's damage before he has items is low and your sustain through Q resets is superior; however, if he lands Q and kites with E, avoid chasing into his passive shield proc.
  • Post-6, Ekko's R makes him extremely slippery and gives him a second chance in fights — you need to R him first to lock him down and burst him before he can rewind, otherwise he escapes with full HP.

How to Trade

  • Your best pattern is to stack passive to 4 on the wave, then Q onto Ekko and commit to a full trade using W to disarm him mid-exchange, removing his auto-attack damage and making his W passive proc weaker; follow with autos and E to mark him, then Q reset back to safety if needed.
  • Never half-trade — short trades favor Ekko's poke pattern, so you must go all-in when your passive is fully stacked.

Wave Control

  • Look to freeze the wave near your side when ahead to force Ekko to walk up and farm under threat of your all-in; when behind, shove the wave quickly with Q resets to reset to base and avoid giving him free poke on an extended wave.
  • Avoid letting him build a large slow-push into your tower, as his Q AOE will crash waves efficiently and give him priority to roam.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use R reactively after he has already pressed E — if he dashes away before your R lands, you waste your lockdown and he escapes freely.
  • Commit your R only when he is in a position where E is on cooldown or he has already used it to engage, ensuring your stun actually connects and converts into a kill.
