Scuttle Contest
- At level 3 in a Scuttle fight, you win if you use E to knock Rengar away from the Scuttle or into a wall, then sustain through his burst with W — Rengar's damage is front-loaded, and if his empowered Q doesn't kill you, your sustained DPS and healing will take over.
- From level 6, you win 1v1 by forcing the fight in open terrain away from brushes, activating W before he lands his R so your healing is already ticking, and using E to reposition or interrupt his follow-up after his initial burst is spent.
Predicted Jungle Path
- Rengar will almost always start at a buff adjacent to a brush, then path toward Scuttle at level 3 looking for a fight or a gank — he clears slightly slower than you and relies on brush proximity to stack his passive, so he tends to take camps near river brushes first.
- Expect him to look for early invades or counter-jungling if he identifies your path, particularly targeting your second buff when you may be lower HP.
Invade or Not
- You should not proactively invade Rengar early because he has strong burst at all stages and brush access near most camps gives him a passive AD bonus that makes trades unpredictable — instead, focus on out-clearing him and contesting Scuttle on your terms using E to engage or disengage.
- If you catch him in the open between camps with no nearby brush, a quick E-into-W trade is favorable, but this requires vision and map awareness rather than a planned invade.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not let Rengar dictate the fight from a brush — if you walk into his R range near a brush without vision, you will absorb his full burst combo before you can react, and your W healing will not compensate for the damage taken in that first second.
- Additionally, avoid using E aggressively to engage Rengar when he has a Ferocity stack ready, as you will be knocked back into his follow-up rather than creating distance, turning your engage tool into a liability.
