Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Briar if you use your E to engage from max range and immediately stack W aura damage while she is forced to commit her E — your movement speed makes it nearly impossible for her to land E cleanly if you are already in motion.
At level 6, you do not have a guaranteed 1v1 win against Briar if she has W active and lands E into a wall, as her healing and damage output during W will outlast your burst; only fight her post-6 if you have a significant HP lead or can disengage before her W fully ramps.

Briar typically starts red buff and clears toward raptors or krugs, then looks for an early scuttle contest or a level 3 gank on a pushed lane.
She will often invade your second buff if she senses a path mismatch, and her level 6 power spike is significant — expect her to look for aggressive 1v1 duels or dive setups once she hits 6.

You should not invade Briar's jungle pre-6 unless you have a clear HP advantage and catch her between camps, as her W sustain means she recovers quickly and her E can punish you in tight jungle corridors.
If you do invade, do so at 3:30–4:00 targeting her red buff side when she is likely on the opposite half of the map, and use your E to escape immediately if she turns on you.

Do not use your E offensively as your primary engage tool and then find yourself without it when Briar's E connects — losing your E means losing your escape and your damage multiplier simultaneously.
Avoid extended trades where her W is active and you are at medium HP, as her healing will outpace your damage and you will be unable to disengage cleanly without E available.
