Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you lose the scuttle fight against Volibear unless you land your full combo and he misplays — his passive regeneration, raw damage, and CC make him a direct threat in short skirmishes where your W buys limited time.
  • From level 6, you can win extended 1v1s by using W to dodge his E flip and R lightning proc, then sustaining through his damage with your passive healing while stacking Q snips on him; you need him to be below 60% HP before committing to a full fight.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Volibear typically runs a standard full clear starting red or blue depending on side, then looks to path toward scuttle and early ganks around level 3-4 using his E flip over terrain or through lanes with CC setup.
  • He favors bot-side early if he starts red buff on blue side, as his E flip pairs well with bot lane CC to snowball kills.

Invade or Not

  • You should not invade Volibear pre-level 6 — he wins direct confrontations in his own jungle where terrain limits your escape options and your W cannot fully compensate for his burst and CC.
  • If you want to contest, wait until level 6 and invade his second buff after he has cleared it, using W proactively to avoid his E flip and kiting with E to maintain distance while poking with Q.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use W reactively after he has already landed his E flip — once you are airborne, the W cannot save you and you will waste it, leaving you exposed to his full combo and R lightning proc with no defensive tool remaining.
  • Avoid fighting him in tight jungle corridors where your E dash has limited angles, as this removes your primary mobility tool and lets him run you down with his passive regeneration sustaining him through your damage.
