Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3 you win the scuttle fight cleanly — your passive armor, E mobility, and Q burst at close range all outperform Hecarim's ramp-up damage before he has R.
  • From level 6, your sure win condition is fighting near terrain: use E to sidestep his R approach angle, denying him momentum stacks, then unload Q and auto-reloads at close range while he has no speed bonus active.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Hecarim typically runs a full clear prioritizing the side opposite to you, looking to hit level 3 fast and contest scuttle with his E.
  • He may also mirror your start to apply early pressure or invade your second buff if he identifies a power spike window — watch for him crossing river around 3:10–3:30 if he started the same side as you.

Invade or Not

  • You can invade Hecarim effectively at his second buff (around 2:45–3:15) if you started opposite side and cleared faster, as he has no reliable escape tool and your E gives you an exit if his laners respond.
  • Target his red buff side specifically, since catching him without smite and at reduced HP before level 3 removes his ability to fight back or disengage.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Hecarim hit you with a full R approach in an open river or long corridor — if he gets uncontested momentum stacks into his R knockback, you will be displaced into a bad position and he will follow up with W sustain and Q spam before you can re-engage.
  • Avoid burning E aggressively on camps right before a likely fight, as without E you cannot dodge his R angle and the matchup flips significantly in his favor.
