Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Sion wins most direct trades due to his W shield absorbing your Q poke and his E slow enabling him to stick to you for extended melee damage; your Q range gives you some poke access but his sustain through W shield and raw stats make him favored in all-ins until you have enough barrels and items to burst through it.
  • Post-6, you gain a meaningful advantage through R utility and barrel combos that can chunk him significantly, but Sion's R becomes a kill threat if you're caught out of position, so the 1v1 remains contested rather than clearly yours.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to place a barrel at max range, bait his W activation, then detonate the barrel the moment his W shield expires or is broken — never trade into an active W.
  • Follow up with Q and auto-attacks only when his W is on cooldown, then disengage immediately using your W to avoid his E slow and extended melee pressure.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave consistently with barrels to deny Sion his passive stacks and prevent him from freely charging W under tower; a frozen wave near his tower is dangerous for you since he can all-in you with E into W without you having escape room.
  • Prioritize shoving and collecting gold stacks safely, then back off to avoid extended trades in tight spaces.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not stand near your own minions when Sion has W charged, as the explosion will hit you and the wave simultaneously, giving him free poke and wave clear; also avoid using your W to heal in a way that telegraphs low HP, as Sion will immediately look to all-in you when he sees you commit to a heal.
