Scuttle Contest
- At level 3, you lose the direct scuttle fight against Ambessa if she lands her E onto you, as her passive shield and empowered Q autos deal more damage than your pre-6 AP burst at standard jungle item levels.
- You can contest scuttle by using your Q to slow her, auto-spacing to proc your passive, and using your W preemptively to absorb her all-in, but you must disengage before she fully commits or you will die.
Predicted Jungle Path
- Ambessa will typically start on the side opposite to you and path toward scuttle at level 3, looking for an early fight or to secure vision control.
- She tends to prioritize early skirmishes and will invade your jungle aggressively if she wins the scuttle fight, so expect her to be in your territory between 3:30 and 5:00 if she gets an early lead.
Invade or Not
- You should not invade Ambessa pre-6 unless she is significantly low HP, as her E gap-close and passive shield make her extremely dangerous in a direct 1v1 in tight jungle corridors.
- Post-6, you can look to invade her second buff with R available as a safety tool, but only if you have an HP advantage and her E is on cooldown, since her E is the primary tool that makes her dangerous in close quarters.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your W reactively after she has already landed her E on you, as the delay on your W means she will have already dealt a large portion of her burst before the shield activates; you must anticipate her engage and cast W slightly before she closes the gap.
- Additionally, avoid using your R purely as an escape tool in a losing fight without securing a kill, as wasting R leaves you vulnerable for its full cooldown and Ambessa will simply re-engage once it is spent.
