Scuttle Contest

At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Ekko if you land your E to close the gap and chain your Q empowered autos, as your burst damage and passive shield generation outpace his early damage before he has meaningful AP scaling.
From level 6, you need to engage when his W is on cooldown, as his W shield is the primary tool that lets him survive your all-in; bait it with a partial trade, then re-engage with your full combo to kill him.

Ekko most commonly runs a full clear starting Red Buff side, pathing Red > Raptors > Blue > Gromp or a mirror path on the opposite side, prioritizing his first clear to hit level 3 efficiently before contesting scuttle.
He will look to gank lanes with CC or dive potential early, and will frequently invade your jungle after a successful gank to snowball a gold lead.

You should invade Ekko's second buff at approximately 3:15-3:30 if you started on the opposite side, as he will likely be low after his first clear and you can force a fight or steal his camp.
Target his Red Buff if he started Blue, or his Blue Buff if he started Red, since catching him between camps with your E engage gives you a significant positional advantage before he has enough AP to threaten you.

Do not use your E aggressively without confirming his W is on cooldown, because his W shield scales with AP and will absorb a significant portion of your burst mid-to-late game, turning a winning trade into a losing one.
Chasing Ekko into terrain or toward his team is also a critical mistake, as his E mobility and R repositioning make him nearly impossible to finish in unfavorable geometry.
