Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you and Blitzcrank win this 2v2 clearly — your level 1 damage with a spinning axe is higher than anything Ezreal can output, and Blitzcrank's level 2 hook threat forces Ezreal to play so far back that you can freely catch axes and build stacks.
  • Post-6, you continue to win if you can land a Blitzcrank hook, but Ezreal's R gives him a long-range poke tool and his E makes him harder to pin down in extended fights.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best trading pattern is to let Blitzcrank hook Ezreal or Thresh first, then immediately commit with your full combo — your damage on a hooked target is devastating and Thresh cannot peel fast enough to save Ezreal from a hook-into-Draven burst.
  • Avoid chasing Ezreal after he uses E, as repositioning into his Q poke without a hook setup wastes your axe momentum.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • Slow-push the wave to create a large minion wave that forces Ezreal into a dangerous position to farm — a big wave near your side of the lane gives Blitzcrank more hook opportunities as Ezreal is forced to walk up.
  • Avoid letting Ezreal push you in, as farming under tower disrupts your axe-catching pattern and reduces your damage significantly.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not drop axes to dodge skillshots — losing your spinning axe stacks to avoid a single Ezreal Q is a net loss in most cases, and Ezreal's poke damage per Q is not high enough to justify the DPS loss from missing axes.
  • Prioritize axe management over dodging poke, and rely on Blitzcrank's hook to create kill windows rather than trying to all-in Ezreal without a setup.
