Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Jayce wins this matchup cleanly — his ranged form lets him poke you down with Q and auto-attacks before you can close the gap, and your Q is easy to dodge at range.
  • Post-6, you become significantly harder to kill due to R's massive HP restoration, but Jayce can still kite you indefinitely in ranged form, so you never truly 'win' a 1v1 unless he makes a positioning error or you catch him in melee form.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to absorb poke with W active to reduce the healing cost, then look to all-in when Jayce has used his E-Q combo or is in melee form — close the gap with Q to slow him and force him to fight at close range where your sustained damage matters.
  • Never attempt short trades; you need extended fights where your passive HP regeneration and W sustain can outscale his burst.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave early to deny Jayce his preferred poke range — a large minion wave in front of you acts as a buffer that limits his ability to freely harass you.
  • Once you have R, consider slow-pushing to build a large wave and crash it, then back or roam, as Jayce has no reliable way to stop a full wave from hitting his tower when you're tanky enough to ignore his poke.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not walk up to trade when your HP is below roughly 40% before you have R — Jayce can burst you down faster than your regeneration kicks in, and you will simply die without getting value from your kit.
  • Avoid standing in predictable positions that let him land long-range Q through minions, as repeated poke will force you out of lane before your sustain becomes meaningful.
