Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win extended trades if you can land your full combo and stack passive, but Briar's W gives her strong sustained damage and self-healing that makes short trades dangerous for you early; at level 3 you gain meaningful kill pressure if you land E into a full Q bleed stack, but Briar's W uptime can match your damage if she's allowed to stick to you.
  • Post-6, your R gives you a decisive kill tool when Briar is low, but her R can disengage or reposition in ways that deny your setup, so you must have passive fully stacked before committing to R.

How to Trade

  • Force extended trades by opening with E to close gap, auto to start passive, then Q to hit the outer edge for maximum bleed, and W to slow her escape — never trade in short bursts because Briar's W healing will out-sustain your damage if she can walk away and re-engage on her terms.
  • Save your E to re-engage if she tries to disengage after her W expires, since that window is when your bleed and passive do the most relative damage.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave hard early to deny Briar easy all-in angles, since she wants a crashed wave to dive or trade without minion aggro punishing her; use Q to waveclear efficiently and maintain priority so you can back safely or contest objectives.
  • Avoid letting the wave bounce back to your tower repeatedly, as Briar excels at diving under tower with her W active and your tower does not deter her as much as it would other champions.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Briar freely stack her W on you without trading back — standing still and tanking her W damage while waiting for your Q cooldown is a losing pattern because her healing during W is substantial.
  • Never use E aggressively when your passive is at zero stacks, as you will deal minimal damage and she can simply W through your slow and out-trade you in that window.
