Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you win most extended trades due to your range advantage and poison uptime — Gwen needs to close the gap to deal damage, and you can kite her with E stacks while she has no reliable engage before level 3.
  • Post-6, the matchup becomes significantly harder because Gwen's W blocks your R stun and most of your Q pokes, and her passive healing in extended fights outpaces your damage if she gets inside your effective range.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to Q to apply poison, then spam E from max range to stack damage while she tries to walk up — never let her get within melee range because her passive on-hit damage and E attack speed shred you in close quarters.
  • If she uses W, disengage immediately rather than wasting spells into the mist, and reset the trade on your terms from range.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave consistently to deny her the extended skirmish environment she wants — Gwen thrives in slow, drawn-out fights near minions where she can freely use W and heal through your poke.
  • Shoving her under tower forces her to last-hit in a confined space where her W is less useful, and you can poke her safely from range without committing to a full trade.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not walk up aggressively when she has W available, as it completely negates your kit and she can freely heal and deal damage while you waste cooldowns.
  • Respecting her W cooldown (roughly 22 seconds at rank 1) is critical — only commit to a full trade or all-in when it is confirmed to be on cooldown.
