Who Wins

  • Pre-6 you win this matchup at every level because your W sustain and consistent damage output beat Akali's poke-and-disengage pattern, especially at level 2 when your W comes online and she has limited tools to escape a full trade.
  • Post-6 the matchup becomes harder because Akali's R gives her two repositioning dashes and access to her shroud mid-fight, making it difficult to stick to her and finish trades you start.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to wait for Akali to use her E aggressively or to step forward to Q, then immediately activate W and run her down — she has no escape if E is on cooldown and you can sustain through her Q poke during the chase.
  • Avoid short trades where she lands Q, procs the mark, and dashes out, because those favor her; you need to force extended fights where your W healing and damage ramp overwhelm her.

Wave Control

  • You want to keep the wave in a state where it slowly pushes toward Akali or sits in the middle of the lane, giving you space to run her down if she mispositions; a wave crashing into your tower removes your ability to chase and lets her poke you freely while you last-hit.
  • Do not let Akali freely shove and roam — match her shove or accept the wave trade and look to punish her when she returns to lane.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not blindly W into Akali when she has her R available and is near her shroud, because she can use R to dash through you, enter shroud, and completely negate your W commitment while you are locked in the channel.
  • Wasting your W on a target who immediately becomes untargetable in shroud is the single biggest mistake you can make in this lane, as it leaves you vulnerable and resets her ability to trade on her terms.
