Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you have the dominant hook threat in this lane and Nautilus cannot match your single-target pick potential; however, Miss Fortune's passive damage and Nautilus's W slow mean extended trades after a missed Q are punishing for you.
  • Post-6, Nautilus's R gives the enemy lane a reliable engage that counters your reactive playstyle, so you must be proactive and land hooks before he can set up his combo.

Synergy & Trading

  • Your best pattern is to hook Miss Fortune specifically — she has no dash and is the primary damage threat, and a landed Q into R knockup into Ezreal Q burst is a kill at almost any point in the lane.
  • After a successful hook, immediately use your E to knock Miss Fortune back toward your tower or away from Nautilus so he cannot peel her with his own CC chain.

Wave Control/Roaming

  • You should roam post-6 if you have landed a kill or forced a recall, because Ezreal can handle the wave alone and your hook is one of the highest-impact roam tools in the game.
  • Optimal roam timing is after a successful hook kill in lane — walk to mid immediately while Ezreal shoves the wave, as Nautilus will be recalling or respawning and cannot follow.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not hook Nautilus — he has the most CC in the game and pulling him toward you gives him a free engage that he would otherwise struggle to land.
  • Always target Miss Fortune or Ezreal with your Q, and if neither is hittable, wait for a better angle rather than wasting your hook on the tankier target.
