Who Wins
- Pre-6 you have a meaningful range and poke advantage with Q, and at level 3 your W gives you enough repositioning to avoid Zed's W+E+Q burst window; post-6, Zed's R is a hard threat but your R can be used defensively to escape his shadow or offensively to reposition behind him and deny his mark reset, making the duel more even than it appears.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to Q poke from max range to chip his health, use W to sidestep his W shadow or escape his engage angle, and only commit to a full trade when he has already used his W offensively and cannot return to it — never fight him when both his W and R are available.
Wave Control
- Maintain a slow push or freeze near your tower to deny Zed the melee range he needs to engage safely; if you let the wave crash into his tower, he gains roam priority which is where he is most dangerous, so controlling the wave position is critical to neutralizing his map impact.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use your W reactively to reposition into him during his R engage — save it specifically to escape his shadow mark or to reposition away from his clone, because burning W early in the all-in leaves you with no escape tool and he will kill you with the follow-up E+Q.
