Who Wins
- Pre-6, you have a meaningful range advantage and your Q blind directly counters Locke's reliance on basic attacks to consume nail stacks, making short trades heavily in your favor if you land Q before he can stack and cash in with E.
- At level 3 Locke gains his full combo threat, so respect the all-in window when he has Q stacks on you and his E up, but you generally win extended poke wars due to superior range and the blind denying his passive on-hit damage.
- Post-6, your R gives you a reliable escape and repositioning tool that makes Locke's all-in significantly harder to complete, and a clean R-Q-W-E burst can delete him before he finishes his combo if he's been poked down.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to poke with Q at max range to whittle Locke down without letting him stack nails on you, then commit to a full combo only when he has used his E recently since that is his primary gap-closer and reset engine.
- If he engages on you with E, immediately use your Q blind to shut down his attack-based stack consumption and W away to deny him the full damage window, as letting him freely auto-attack through his W heal cycle is how he wins extended fights.
Wave Control
- Push the wave consistently with your Q to maintain priority, which denies Locke the ability to roam freely since he needs to clear before leaving and his wave clear is not exceptional.
- Shoving also forces him to walk up to last-hit under tower, creating opportunities to poke him with Q while he's in a vulnerable position and building a CS lead through pressure rather than pure fighting.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not stand still and trade autos with Locke when he has Q stacks on you and his W active, as his W true damage combined with his passive missing-health scaling and stack burst will out-damage you in a sustained fight even through your blind.
- Many Aurora players panic-ult into him thinking the repositioning wins the fight, but if he has stacks and W running, you need to disengage fully rather than just reposition within his reach.
