Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you lose the scuttle fight against Nunu unless you land your Q to interrupt his W engage, because his W speed and Q healing let him out-sustain your damage and stick to you indefinitely.
  • From level 6, you can win 1v1 if you initiate with Q to root him, immediately stack E and W damage, and use R to prevent him from repositioning or escaping, but you must avoid letting him dictate the fight range with his W, as a free W from him negates your setup.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Nunu will typically start at the buff closest to Scuttle on his side, clear it fast with Q sustain, and immediately contest Scuttle at level 2 or 3; he has one of the fastest Scuttle contest timings in the game.
  • Expect him to also look for early invades on your second buff if he senses you are low, as his W and Q make him extremely threatening in isolated 1v1 scenarios during the early clear.

Invade or Not

  • You should not invade Nunu early because his Q sustain and W mobility make him nearly impossible to kill in his own jungle at levels 1–3, and a failed invade leaves you low and behind on tempo.
  • Instead, focus on a clean full clear to reach level 6 first or simultaneously, then look for skirmishes near objectives where your R provides team fight value that Nunu cannot match in a multi-target scenario.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not attempt to fight Nunu without your Q landing first — engaging without the root means he can freely W away or reposition, and his Q will out-heal your W damage in a prolonged chase.
  • Additionally, do not overcommit to contesting Scuttle at level 3 if you are not healthy, as Nunu's Q will heal him for a significant amount during the fight and you will likely lose the trade and the objective simultaneously.
