Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight decisively if you land your E dash onto Karthus and chain your Q resets to sustain through his Q poke — Karthus has no mobility or burst at this stage, so you can freely trade and disengage before his passive triggers.
  • From level 6, you win the 1v1 by engaging aggressively with E, burning his W slow with movement, and killing him before he can stack enough Q hits to matter, since your burst window is faster than his damage ramp.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Karthus will almost always run a full clear starting red or blue depending on side, prioritizing scuttle at level 3 before looking for early gank opportunities on pushed lanes — he clears fast with Q and will look to stack farm and reach level 6 as quickly as possible to threaten map-wide pressure with his R.

Invade or Not

  • You should invade Karthus at his second buff (approximately 3:15–3:30) after your own full clear, as he has no escape tools and you will kill him in a straight fight at level 3 — target the side of the map where his second buff spawns based on his starting position, and look to deny his buff or force a death before he reaches level 6.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Karthus freely farm to level 6 by playing passively — every minute you waste not pressuring him is a minute closer to his R becoming a global threat, and if you fall behind in kills or objectives, your early physical advantage becomes irrelevant against his scaling damage and team fight presence.
