Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight against Hecarim if you can force short trades using your Q dashes to dodge his E charge and punish him during his W uptime gaps β€” Hecarim's damage at level 3 is heavily reliant on his E momentum and W healing, so denying him a clean engage angle is critical.
  • From level 6, you win a 1v1 if you open with your E to close distance, weave Q dashes to avoid his E knockback, and use your passive stacks to burst him before his W sustain can recover the damage β€” Hecarim loses to sustained burst pressure when he cannot disengage or reset his E.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Hecarim most commonly runs a full clear starting Red Buff side (Red β†’ Raptors β†’ Wolves β†’ Blue β†’ Gromp) or Blue side into an early Scuttle contest, depending on his team's setup β€” he prioritizes fast clears to reach level 3 quickly and look for early ganks on pushed lanes using his E engage.
  • Expect him to path toward whichever side lane is most gankable after his first clear, as his E makes him one of the strongest early gankers in the game on overextended targets.

Invade or Not

  • You should invade Hecarim at his second buff when he is clearing his opposite-side buff around 3:15–3:30, particularly if you know his starting side β€” catching him between camps with low HP and no E cooldown available is your best window, as he is vulnerable when E is on cooldown and he cannot disengage.
  • Avoid invading him at full HP in his own jungle early, as his W sustain and E burst make him dangerous in extended fights when he has terrain to build momentum.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not let Hecarim land a clean E charge on you in an open area β€” his E knockback resets his momentum and allows him to chain damage while you are displaced, which can flip a fight you were winning.
  • Avoid overcommitting to a fight when his E is up and you have no wall or terrain to interrupt his charge path, as his ability to disengage and re-engage with E makes him extremely difficult to punish if you miss your window.
