Who Wins
- Pre-6 you win this lane clearly because Locke's damage requires Q stack buildup and auto-attack follow-through that your shroud directly interrupts — you can trade aggressively at level 2 with your passive proc and disengage before he converts any marks.
- At level 3 Locke gains his full combo, so you should respect a single all-in attempt, but your shroud still breaks his stack-consumption window and your sustain from passive outpaces his poke damage over time.
How to Trade
- Post-6 the matchup becomes more dangerous because Locke's R creates a zone where your re-engage pattern (R dash in, burst, R dash out) gets punished by the 99% slow and execution threshold — you need to bait out his R before committing to a kill attempt.
- If you can force him to use R defensively or on a bad angle, his cooldown is long enough that you can re-engage with your full R pattern and kill him before it comes back.
Wave Control
- Your best trading pattern is to use shroud to deny his Q-stack-to-auto conversion, then re-emerge with your passive charged to proc a full trade and back off before he can restack Q — this cycles his mana and forces him to play reactively.
- Avoid extended fights where his W is active, as the true damage he takes converts to healing on recast and his passive bonus magic damage scales with your missing health, meaning the longer the fight goes the more his damage spikes.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not use both R dashes to engage on Locke if his R is available — you will land inside the totem zone and the 99% slow will prevent you from repositioning to dodge his E follow-up or escape the execution threshold.
