Who Wins

  • Pre-6, Qiyana wins most direct trades because her E-Q-W burst combo deals more damage than you can output at close range, and she has a dash to close the gap; you win only if you land your E to interrupt her engage and follow with Q-W before she can fully execute her combo.
  • Post-6, your R gives you a reliable disengage and setup tool, but Qiyana's R can still kill you if she lands it in a wall, so the 1v1 advantage shifts slightly in your favor only when you have room to kite and she has no wall nearby.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to poke with Q from max range to chip her down, then use E to charm her when she steps up to trade or dashes onto you, immediately following with W and the second Q hit to maximize damage during the charm window.
  • Never let her dictate the range of the fight — if she gets inside your E range without you landing it first, disengage rather than committing to a full trade.

Wave Control

  • Push the wave consistently with Q to maintain priority, which denies Qiyana roam opportunities and forces her to farm under pressure; you want the wave near her tower so she cannot freely walk up to trade without tower threat.
  • Avoid letting the wave slow-push toward you, as that gives her a safe position to engage from with minion cover blocking your skillshots.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not use E reactively after she has already closed the gap — at melee range, the charm animation is easily sidestepped and you lose your only reliable disengage tool, leaving you vulnerable to her full combo with no answer.
  • Always pre-position your E as a threat before she commits to a dash, not as a panic button after she is already on top of you.
