Who Wins
- You win pre-6 through superior range and sustain, as Jax cannot effectively engage without taking significant Q poke damage.
- Post-6 the matchup becomes Jax-favored once he gets items, as his R makes him too tanky to burst while his E negates your auto-attacks between Q casts.
How to Trade
- You want to land Q1 or Q2 for poke then immediately back off, avoiding extended trades where Jax can stick to you with Q and proc his passive.
- Only commit to full Q combo trades when Jax has used E or is low enough to kill, as his counterstrike completely shuts down your damage windows.
Wave Control
- You should slow push early waves to build minion advantages for trades, then crash and recall for items before Jax hits power spikes.
- Avoid freezing as Jax scales better and will eventually force fights you cannot win in long lanes.
Mistakes to Avoid
- You must not waste Q abilities on minions when Jax is in range to engage, as you become completely vulnerable without your knockups.
- Never fight Jax in his minion wave where he can Q to minions for repositioning and additional damage from his passive stacks.
