Who Wins
- Pre-6, Graves has a significant range advantage with his shotgun pattern and E dash to disengage, making it very difficult for you to land extended trades without eating heavy poke first.
- Your W pull is your only real threat, but Graves can E away from it or simply outrange you before you close the gap; avoid forcing fights until you have enough Determination stacks to offset his burst.
How to Trade
- Post-6, your R gives you a gap-close and AoE damage that forces Graves to respect you, and your passive revive makes all-ins much riskier for him to commit to.
- However, Graves' burst pattern can still kill you before the revive matters if he has items and you are low on stacks, so you need to have built Determination before looking for the R all-in.
Wave Control
- Your best trading pattern is to use W to pull Graves into melee range, immediately follow with E for the outer-edge bonus damage, then chain Q for the double hit and healing to sustain through his counter-burst.
- Never engage without W landing first, as walking up without the pull gives Graves free poke and an easy E escape before you can stack any meaningful damage.
Mistakes to Avoid
- A critical mistake is using E to initiate without W, because Graves can simply E away and reset the trade entirely while you are left in the open with your dash on cooldown.
- You also must not let Graves freely poke you below 50% HP before trading, as his burst at that health threshold can kill you before your passive revive activates, wasting your strongest defensive tool.
