Who Wins
- You lose early trades pre-6 due to Smolder's superior range and poke damage with Q, but you can start winning all-ins once you hit level 6 with R engage potential.
- Post-6 you have clear 1v1 advantage if you can land R or get on top of him with E.
How to Trade
- Look for short E-Q3 trades when Smolder uses Q on minions, then immediately E back to safety before he can retaliate with W or extended auto attacks.
- Avoid extended trades without your E escape until you have R to commit fully.
Wave Control
- Push early waves to prevent Smolder from freely stacking Q on minions, but be prepared to give up CS if he zones you with superior range.
- After 6, look to freeze near your tower to create longer lanes for R engages.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't use E aggressively without tracking Smolder's W cooldown, as getting slowed while in your shadow form leaves you extremely vulnerable to his damage.
- Avoid fighting in minion waves where his Q can hit both you and minions for maximum damage.
