LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose most extended trades because Shen's W absorbs your Q and auto attacks, negating your primary damage source; you can look for short burst trades by landing Q through minions and immediately backing off, but Shen's passive energy sustain and W uptime make him durable enough to outlast you in any prolonged exchange.
- Post-6, you gain kill pressure with R into a knockup combo, but Shen's R can bail out an ally and his W still counters your damage during the engage window, so you rarely have a clean kill setup unless he burns W early.
How to Trade
- Your best trading pattern is to bait out his W by throwing a Q from range or faking an all-in, then immediately re-engaging with E into a full Q-auto-Q combo once W is on cooldown, as W has a meaningful cooldown at early ranks that you can exploit.
- Never commit to a trade while W is active — you will deal almost no damage and he will outsustain you with his passive energy regen and Q healing.
Wave Control
- You want to push the wave consistently to deny Shen the ability to freely roam with R and to force him to farm under tower, where his wave clear is weaker than yours; a fast-push setup also lets you back and return before he can impact the map.
- Avoid letting the wave freeze near his tower, as that removes your mobility advantage and lets him zone you with his longer effective threat range when you have no minions to E through.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not blindly dash onto Shen with E while his W is active — this is the single most common mistake, as you will deal negligible damage, he will auto you freely, and you will have wasted your gap-closer with no escape tool available.
- Also avoid using R aggressively to all-in him at 6 without confirming W is down, because he can W during your R animation and negate the burst that makes the combo threatening.
