Who Wins
- Pre-6 you lose to Ivern's poke and disengage: his E shields him from your Q burst and his W root stops your all-in cold, making sustained trades heavily favor him early.
- Post-6 your R gives you a meaningful engage tool that can override his W root if you land it first, but he can still E-shield and disengage while his passive regenerates health through minion interactions, so the 1v1 is still not clean in his favor.
How to Trade
- Your best pattern is to bait out his W root by feinting an engage, then immediately Q when it's on cooldown since that's the only window where he can't stop your dive.
- Stack your passive healing by staying in extended skirmishes rather than short trades, as his poke-and-disengage style punishes you in short exchanges but your sustain becomes relevant if you force him to fight longer than he wants.
Wave Control
- Push the wave aggressively to deny him the ability to use his passive on minions, since his passive lets him gain resources from minions without last-hitting and a slow wave gives him free sustain.
- Crashing waves into his tower forces him into a reactive position and limits his ability to poke you safely from range while he's focused on the wave.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade when his W is available and you have no gap-closer ready, because a rooted Warwick with no R is a dead Warwick against any jungler who responds.
- Avoid ignoring his passive minion healing — if you let him freely interact with the wave, he sustains through your poke and the lane becomes a slow bleed in his favor.
