Who Wins

  • You lose most short trades pre-6 due to Garen's silence preventing your Q-W combo and his E outdamaging your early game.
  • Post-6 you gain kill pressure with R, especially if you can bait out his W cooldown first.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to land Q when he goes for CS, then immediately W for attack speed and sustain through his E damage.
  • Only commit to extended trades when your W is active and you can out-sustain his burst.

Wave Control

  • Let Garen push into you early and focus on last-hitting safely with Q sustain to stay healthy.
  • Once you have items and levels, you can start contesting waves more aggressively with your improved sustain.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't waste Q on minions when Garen can punish you with Q-E trades immediately after.
  • Avoid fighting him when his passive has been regenerating his health as you need a health advantage to win extended trades.
