Who Wins

  • Pre-6, you lose almost every extended trade due to Teemo's range advantage, consistent poison damage, and E blind negating your auto-attack reliant kit; your only real window is an all-in at level 3 if you can land Q and close the gap before he kites you out, but it requires him to be overextended or mispositioned.
  • Post-6, your R gives you a brief window to force a kill since the knockback and damage can chunk him hard, but he will simply E you during the animation and kite you with poison while your R cooldown is long, so post-6 is still heavily in his favor unless you have a gap closer or he is low.

How to Trade

  • Your best trading pattern is to use W passive healing to survive poke, wait for Teemo to push into you near your tower, then Q in, proc W, and immediately R to maximize burst before his blind expires; you need the trade to be short and explosive because every second the fight extends, his poison and kiting advantage compounds.
  • Never attempt a slow walk-up trade without Q available, as he will simply auto-poke you down with poison before you reach him.

Wave Control

  • You want to let Teemo shove the wave into your tower early, farming safely under it where his poke is less effective and you can use W healing to sustain through chip damage; once you have enough items to threaten a kill, you can start pushing back to deny him the freeze and force him to make decisions.
  • Avoid hard shoving the wave yourself early, as being in the open river-side lane gives Teemo maximum kiting space and makes you a free target.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not waste Q as a gap closer just to trade when his E is up — you will deal almost no damage during the blind window and he will simply walk away after the trade, leaving you on cooldown and poisoned.
  • Burning your only mobility tool into a blind is the single biggest mistake you can make in this lane, as it removes your only realistic kill threat for the next several seconds.
