Who Wins

  • You lose pre-6 trades due to Xerath's superior range and poke damage with Q and W.
  • Post-6 you can win all-ins if you successfully engage with R, as your burst combo can 100-0 him while he lacks mobility to escape.

How to Trade

  • Look for short trades when Xerath uses abilities on minions - dash in with passive-empowered Q, proc Gloom with W, then immediately back out.
  • Extended trades favor him due to his range advantage and ability to kite you.

Wave Control

  • Push early waves to prevent him from freely poking you while you CS, then look to freeze near your tower where you can threaten all-ins.
  • Avoid slow pushing as it gives him free poke windows while you're stuck farming.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't waste R on poorly positioned engages where he can flash away or you'll eat his full combo during your dash.
  • Missing your ultimate leaves you completely vulnerable to his superior range for the next 60+ seconds.
