Pre-6 you have a meaningful level 2 spike when you get both Q and E, and landing a hook into flay combo forces Tahm Kench to W Tristana rather than counter-engage, effectively neutralizing his kit; post-6 the matchup becomes harder because Tahm Kench's R engage bypasses your hook threat and Tristana's R gives her a reliable escape from your lantern-less follow-up.

Your best pattern is to bait Tahm Kench into using his W on a non-lethal hook, then immediately throw a second hook when his W is on cooldown and he cannot protect Tristana; your E flay into Q hook sequence is most effective when Tahm Kench has already committed his defensive ability.

You should not roam aggressively because Tahm Kench can also roam with his R and will match or beat your roam speed while leaving Jinx in a 1v1 she loses against Tristana; stay in lane, stack your passive souls, and look for picks when Tristana overextends without Tahm Kench nearby.

Do not throw your hook at Tahm Kench when he is clearly positioned to W it, as he will simply swallow it and you waste your primary engage tool on a cooldown that lets Tristana freely E onto Jinx without fear of your follow-up.
