Scuttle Contest

  • At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your E to close the gap and chain your Q and W bleed for burst damage, but Udyr's W shield and sustained melee damage make this a coin flip if he has stacked his passive.
  • From level 6, you can reliably kill Udyr if you engage with E, use your full combo including R for the reset window, and disengage to let bleed finish him, but if he has Sunfire or Steelcaps built, your burst will fall short and he will outlast you.

Predicted Jungle Path

  • Udyr will most likely start Red Buff side and path through Raptors, Wolves, Blue, and Gromp before contesting scuttle, or alternatively start Blue side and mirror path to scuttle — he clears fast and will be at scuttle around the same time as you or slightly earlier due to his efficient AoE clear with his Q and W.

Invade or Not

  • You should invade Udyr at his second or third camp around 3:00–3:30 if you know his starting side, targeting his Red Buff or Raptors when he is low from clearing — your burst at that point can force a flash or secure a kill, and denying his early camps significantly delays his first back and item spike.
  • Do not invade his starting buff at level 1 since you have no meaningful advantage there and he will simply out-sustain you.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Do not try to extended trade with Udyr at any point in the game — his passive stacking and W shield mean prolonged fights heavily favor him, and your win condition is always a short burst combo followed by disengaging to let bleed tick.
  • Staying in melee range after your combo is the most common mistake that turns a winning trade into a death.
