Scuttle Contest
- At level 3, you win the scuttle fight if you land your E to close the gap and chain W into Q for burst, but Shaco's W box placement near scuttle can fear you mid-trade and flip the fight entirely if you walk into it carelessly.
- From level 6, you win 1v1 only if you engage on Shaco when his W boxes are on cooldown or already used, since your burst combo E-W-Q can delete him before he can disengage, but if he has boxes pre-placed you will be feared and he will kite you to death with his clone.
Predicted Jungle Path
- Shaco typically starts Red Buff side (Red > Raptors > Krugs or Red > Wolves > Blue depending on side), then looks to gank early with his Q invisibility, often prioritizing bot lane at level 3.
- He will avoid extended clears and look for early skirmishes using his Q to ambush rather than farming efficiently.
Invade or Not
- You should invade Shaco at his second buff (around 3:15-3:30) when you know which side he started, targeting the buff he has not yet taken.
- Shaco is weakest between camps when his Q is on cooldown and he has no boxes pre-placed, making him vulnerable to your all-in burst at that window.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not blindly chase Shaco into unwarded jungle terrain at any point in the game — he pre-places W boxes in common chase paths and his Q lets him reset the fight entirely, turning your aggression into a death.
- Overextending after a failed burst combo without your E available is the most common way to throw a winning position against him.
