LaneDiff costs me $50/month to run. If it helped you win a lane, a small tip keeps it alive. 💙

Who Wins
- Pre-6, you lose almost every extended trade at range because Xerath's Q poke and E stun let him dictate spacing and whittle you down before you can close the gap; your only real window is landing Q to slow him and immediately walking up to force a short-range trade, but Xerath's E interrupts your approach reliably.
- Post-6, your R gives you a brief window to absorb burst and re-engage, but Xerath can simply back off and reset poke, so you still do not reliably kill him without jungle assistance.
How to Trade
- Your best pattern is to absorb a poke cycle, wait for Xerath to misposition or waste his E, then hard-commit with Q into W stack trades; you need the full W passive stack to deal meaningful damage, so short trades heavily favor Xerath.
- Never trade when your W stacks are low — you become a slow melee champion with no damage output and Xerath will simply kite and poke you to death.
Wave Control
- Push the wave hard and fast to deny Xerath free poke on you under open lane conditions; a shoved wave forces him to last-hit under tower, which limits his ability to freely harass you.
- Avoid standing in the middle of the lane farming — hug the side of the wave closest to your tower so Xerath's Q linear skillshot is harder to land on you while you CS.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not walk up to trade when Xerath has E available — his stun into Q combo deals significant damage and resets his poke pattern before you can stack W.
- Many Tahm Kench players waste their R reactively on poke damage rather than saving it to absorb a full Xerath combo and then close distance, which is the only scenario where R provides real kill threat.
